Barbara Heck

BARBARA(Heck) born 1734 in the town of Ballingrane (Republic of Ireland) and daughter of Bastian Ruckle and Margaret Embury. Bastian Ruckle (Sebastian), and Margaret Embury, daughter of Bastian Ruckle (Republic of Ireland) married Paul Heck (1760 in Ireland). The couple had seven kids, and four survived childhood.

The majority of times it is the case that the person has been involved in significant events, and shared unique ideas or thoughts that are recorded on paper. Barbara Heck left neither letters or declarations. Actually, the only evidence we have for matters like the date of the marriage from second-hand sources. The documents which were used by Heck to explain the reasons behind her actions and motives are gone. However, she is a hero in the early history of Methodism in North America. The job of a biographer is to explain and account for the myth as well as describe if possible the real person who lies within it.

Abel Stevens a Methodist Historian published a piece on this incident in 1866. Barbara Heck, a humble woman who was from her native New World who is credited for the development of Methodism throughout in the United States, has undoubtedly made it to the top of the ecclesiastical history of the New World. It is due to the fact that the story of Barbara Heck is mostly based on her contributions to the greater cause and her name remains forever connected. Barbara Heck's participation with the early days of Methodism was a synchronicity that happened to be a lucky one. Her popularity is due to her involvement in a popular organization or group will glorify their origins, in order to keep ties with the past and be rooted to it.
